As our #GreatOhioClimateMarch continues, we continue to learn about environmental risks. Our partners at @people_over_petro explain the dangers of hydrolysis plastic “recycling” and how the process disproportionally affects Ohioans.

On this Memorial Day as we march we remember not just members of the military killed in service but also activists around the world whose lives have been violently taken as they fought to protect their communities and the environment.#GreatOhioClimateMarch

A beautiful and powerful day of celebration and solidarity💚 Today in Salt Fork State Park, we held a rally to bring together many of our partners on the #GreatOhioClimateMarch to reflect on our reason for marching and the work being done to fight against the climate crisis.

9.6 soggy miles on Day 7 of the #GreatOhioClimateMarch. Despite the rain, we enjoyed the beauty of Salt Fork State Park and the surrounding roads!

Lamentors bear witness to droughts, fires, floods, and the collective grief of a climate-changing world. On day 6 of the #GreatOhioClimateMarch, we walked past countless frack pads, noting the emissions and other environmental impacts each site creates.

Day 5 of the #GreatOhioClimateMarch! We got through the muddy day thanks to teamwork, cooler temperatures, and singing. @psrnational PA joined us with their FLIR’s Optical Gas Imaging (OGI) Camera so we could visualize the significant plume of hydrocarbons from a flare on a frack well pad.

On Day 4 of the #GreatOhioClimateMarch, we talked about and saw harmful oil and gas industry in Ohio. Pictured on slide 1 is a Lamentor standing in front of a well pad. The lamentors mourn What is being lost as a result of our continued build out of fossil fuels, continuing to drive the climate emergency.

Day 3 of the #GreatOhioClimateMarch was our longest, toughest, and likely hottest day of hiking. Despite the physical challenge of the day, we were grateful for the shade provided by the trees, the soundtrack of the birds singing, and the beautiful flowers and wildlife, all reminders of why we’re out here marching to protect the world around…

Day 2 of the #GreatOhioClimateMarch and still going strong! Today we saw and learned about abandoned oil & gas infrastructure (see photo 2 for example). Stay tuned to hear more about this topic from our partner subject matter expert.

Day 1 of the #GreatOhioClimateMarch was a great success, kicking off with our rally in Athens. We then set off for the first leg of the March. We’re so excited to see where the rest of the March takes us!
